Derrell Lawrence is an American actor, filmmaker, writer, director, executive producer and upcoming author. He is perhaps best known for his feature film debut, Life Isn’t Fair in 2007. He earned several awards including, “The Highest Achievement for New Filmmaker” at the Jokara-Micheaux Film Festival, as well as both “The Silver Award” and “The People’s Choice Award” from the Philadelphia International Film Festival and Market for Life Isn’t Fair. He is also known for his work with the independent feature film Happy Holidaze in 2008 that premiered in Philadelphia, PA and Arkansas.
More recently Derrell has begun writing plays and is working on his first book titled Burnout. He is continues to receive rave reviews for his first stage play, “Do You Trust Your Best Friend?," touring nationally. He is currently receiving rave reviews for his second stage play "When Heaven Calls". Derrell made an appearance in the motion picture, Must Be the Music written and directed by Charles S. Dutton and is co-starring in the independent film Gotta Make It Out. He has also been featured in national television commercials.
Derrell tours Historically Black Colleges and Universities, high schools, and elementary schools where he screens and lectures on his work and offers guidance to children and young adults.
